DIVORCE AGREEMENT

An agreement entered into by a divorcing couple regarding all aspects of their married lives.  A divorce agreement made include topics such as division of property, custody and visitation of the children, alimony and/or child support payments.  This agreement must be put into writing, signed and notarized by both parties and accepted by the court.  Ultimately, it becomes part of the final divorce decree and does away with having a trial on the agreed upon issues. 

A divorce agreement is also known as a settlement agreement, marital termination agreement, or separation agreement.
