DIVORCE

The termination of a marriage by legal action.  All states require that one spouse identify a legal reason for requesting a divorce when that spouse files the divorce documentation with the Court.  Some states still require at least a minimal showing of fault, but no-fault divorce has become a more popular rule in which "incompatibility" is sufficient reason to grant a divorce.
