Nevada child support, and Nevada support enforcement and support collection are based upon Federal guidelines that all states must comply with.  If the states do not, they will lose Federal aid.  The intent of the Federal Government in regulating this area is to maintain the level of family support that children receive in intact families after a family separates or divorces.

Nevada child support is based upon guidelines that are presumed to be correct unless there is a showing that the needs of the child would not be met. In deviating from the guidelines, a Court may consider certain factors in calculating the appropriate amount of child support.

Nevada child support may be determined by the Court after considering the cost of health insurance, child care and any special educational needs of the child. The age of the child as well as any responsibility of the parents for the support of others may also be considered. The amount of time the child spends with each parent as well as any visitation travel expenses may also cause a deviation in the amount of child support. The relative income of each parent along with any other expenses, the value of services contributed by the parents and any public aid paid to the child may also cause the Court to deviate from the guidelines when awarding the appropriate amount of child support.
