North Dakota child support is based upon official guidelines for the calculation of child support. All North Dakota support orders will be reviewed every 3 years, unless neither parent requests such a review.

North Dakota support and North Dakota support enforcement and support collection are based upon Federal Law.  For the past fifteen plus years, the Federal Government has mandated that states implement support laws with specific guidelines.  States that do not do so lose certain Federal aid.  The guidelines required by the Federal Government are based upon studies that indicate how much support is provided to children in intact families.  North Dakota child support laws, like those of all other states, are supposed to ensure that the children of divorced or separated parents receive the same level of support as children in intact families.
